As if high school wasn't dreadful enough, Buffy has been chosen as a Slayer, destined to fight the forces of evil that have descended upon Sunnydale, Calif. She reluctantly accepts her fate and responsibility as the Chosen One: vanquishing demons, slaying vampires and saving the world countless times over seven seasons of television, dying at least twice in the process.

Weapon of choice: The wooden stake, most effective when driven through the "heart" of a vampire. Ironically enough, Buffy has a penchant for falling in love with vampires.

Notable sidekick: Shy and studious Willow (Alyson Hannigan) begins helping Buffy by researching paranormal bad guys in the library, but eventually gains magical abilities as a powerful witch, resurrects Buffy from the dead and flirts with the Dark Side.
