David Boreanaz Set For Indie 'Officer Down'

David Boreanaz will spent his series hiatus starring in Officer Down, an independent feature helmed by first-timer Brian A. Miller. Boreanaz will star opposite Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, Stephen Lang, James Woods and AnnaLynne McCord in the John Chase-scripted drama. When a doctor and security guard dream at night, their dreams consist of what the other person did during the day. They meet when the security guard murders his wife, is then hit by a car and brought into the doctor's emergency room. Boreanaz will play a humorless and ambitious rival detective to another cop played by Dorff. Jess Most is producing, and shooting begins this week in Connecticut. We know it's a hiatus movie because Boreanaz sent out a Twitter message telling his fans he'll be reprising his Special Agent Seeley Booth role on Fox's Bones for a seventh season. He's repped by CAA and Tom Parziale.

David joined the cast of Officer Down a indie film he'll be doing during the Summer hiatus of Bones.
Bones star David Boreanaz is set to star in indie drama Officer Down during his hiatus from the show.

The 41-year-old is known for his role as Special Agent Seeley Booth on the Fox show Bones and he has confirmed he will reprise the role when the show returns for a seventh season.
According to Deadline, the actor will be starring in the new film by Brian A. Miller and he will star opposite Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, Stephen Lang, James Woods and AnnaLynne McCord.

The script for the new drama has been written by John Chase and it follows a doctor and a security guard.
When the pair dream, they see what the other person did during that day and they meet when the security guard murders his wife and is then brought into the doctor's emergency room after being hit by a car.

Boreanaz and Dorff will take on the roles of two cops. Filming begins in Connecticut this month.

Officer Down, directed by Brian A. Miller and written by John Chase, follows a rogue police officer who, in order to pay back old debts, seeks revenge against the men responsible for a young woman’s death. Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, AnnaLynne McCord, David Boreanaz, Walton Goggins, Stephen Lang and James Woods star. It was produced by Jeff Most of Most Films, Jeff Bozz, Dr. Mohammed Zahoor and Jeff Rice.

Both deals, announced Tuesday by Anchor Bay Entertainment president Bill Clark, were negotiated by Kevin Kasha on behalf of Anchor Bay and attorney Elsa Ramo and Most on behalf of the producers and Roman Kopelevich of Red Sea Media.
Red Sea Media is handling international sales for both titles and has completed sales in Cannes on both to Polar Star (Latin America), Globo TV (Brazil), Dutch FilmWorks, (Benelux), Eagle Films (Middle East), IPA (Thailand), Prorom (Romania), Horizon Int'l (Turkey) and is in negotiations with France and Germany.

For Soulja Boy, the foray into Hollywood was all he expected and more. The Southern superstar recently completed work on his first film, Officer Down, which stars such notables as James Wood, David Boreanaz and Stephen Dorff, and is scheduled for release this year.

“It is a $40 million movie,” Soulja told XXLMag.com recently on the phone from Tinsletown. “It stars actors from movies such as Blade, Brooklyn’s Finest, they’re in the movie.”

Soulja plays a nefarious role, navigating through the underbelly of the narcotics world.

“I’m playing this character named ‘Rudy,’ he further explained. “It’s crazy. When I was in the movie, I was [playing] a multi-millionaire drug runner [that] had $20 and $30 million at the time. It was emotion in the movie. Once it comes out and people see me acting on the big screen, they’ll get to see a whole other side of Soulja Boy.”

Soulja says music and movies aren’t in the same ballpark.

“It’s a difference in the two worlds,” he added.

He wasn’t showcasing his acting skills at all during the 2012 BET Awards last Sunday (July 1), when he broke down in tears, clearly emotional over the tribute to late and legendary singer Whitney Houston.

When I was standing there and they started to do the tribute, I started to think about Whitney Houston,” the 21-year-old rapper explained last week. “When her mother came onstage, I thought about how a mother was singing about her daughter that was no longer here. A daughter that had died.

“That’s really tough,” he added. “Then I started thinking about my younger brother that recently passed. I got his name tatted on my arm. [His passing] feels like it happened yesterday. So those things are hard to watch.”

Although Officer Down is scheduled for a 2012 release, the exact date it hits theaters is currently unknown.—Shaheem Reid
