Hearing any news related to actress Charisma Carpenter usually inspires me to think of her role as Cordelia in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, however the role she’ll be playing in an upcoming episode of Burn Notice actually sounds a bit more like the woman she played in Veronica Mars.

According to TV Line, Carpenter is signed on to play a role in Season 5 of USA’s spy thriller series Burn Notice. (Spoiler warning!) Carpenter will play the role of Nicki, who is described as an opinionated “high-maintenance trophy wife. Michael and Fiona end up using Nicki, in order to get to her husband, who’s a bioweapons engineer with some dealings with the Russians that may have gotten him into some trouble.

As I mentioned earlier, Carpenter’s commonly known for her place among the excellent cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series Angel. While Cordy was opinionated and high-maintenance during “the early years” of Buffy, this role sounds much closer to her role as Richard Casablancas Sr.’s gorgeous, age-inappropriate, wife Kendall. Then again, Nicki sounds more like a dissatisfied wife, willing to be used as bait or a pawn, and a bit less like the cheating, identity-thieving bad girl that Kendall turned out to be.

TV Line says Carpenter’s episode will be the eleventh of the season, which means if Season 5 mirror’s last season’s schedule, the episode wont air until the fall.

Burn Notice airs Thursdays at 9/8c on USA.

Fittingly, USA’s spy drama was among the shows Carpenter hailed when TVLine spoke with her at last month’s Thirst Project Gala. “I love White Collar and Burn Notice, and I am also obsessed with Sons of Anarchy, Shameless –- I cannot miss an episode — and Californication has been a huge favorite for years. I think Natascha McElhone is probably the most stunning woman that ever walked the Earth,” she raved. “[The cable networks] are just slammin’ it with the great shows.”

Carpenter’s most recent credits include the big-screen blockbuster The Expendables and the upcoming Lifetime movie Deadly Sibling Rivalry (in which she plays –wait for it — twins). But of course she is best known to TV fans for her role as Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, as well as from her runs on Veronica Mars and Greek.

eh bien j'apprends juste la nouvelle!!!^^ c'est cool ça. Je pense pas que j'ai déjà vu un épisode de cette série mais ça me donnera l'occasion de le faire. ça a l'air pas mal du tout!!!

Perhaps as a result of her apparent inability to age, "Buffy" and "Angel" alum Charisma Carpenter seems to be everywhere these days.

On the heels of a first look at her trip to the "Supernatural" set -- filming an episode which sees her reunited with fellow "Buffy"-verse alum and co-star James Marsters -- we now get a glimpse of her upcoming turn on "Burn Notice."

And it appears the previous reports of her "trophy wife" character weren't played up enough... because she's looking gorgeous (and pensive) in a full-length gown.

The 40-year-old actress also has some inside info on her new role, which she shares with TVLine. "Basically, I hate my husband now because our lives are run by the Russians -- he doesn't want to spend any money or do anything -- and that makes for an unhappy trophy wife," she says, "which is a bad combination."

We can think of worse things.
