Can you believe it’s been over seven years since Joss Whedon’s iconic series Angel? The David Boreanaz-fronted supernatural series aired for five seasons … until it was suddenly cancelled in 2004. (Not that we’re still bitter or anything. We’ve gotten over it by now. We promise!)

David, of course, found work near immediately on Fox’s Bones, which started in 2005. But what have the rest of his Angel co-stars been up to since their Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off met its untimely demise? Take a look and see!

Charisma Carpenter, Angel’s Cordelia Chase: Then and Now

After a very successful run as the bratty-but-lovable Cordelia Chase on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, actress Charisma Carpenter has gone on to appear on Veronica Mars and other TV shows. Up next, look for her as Char’s (Kristin Prout) mysterious aunt Rebecca “Annie” Sewell on ABC Family’s The Lying Game. But would Charisma ever be up for a guest star appearance on Bones? You bet she would!

Alexis Denisof, Angel’s Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: Then and Now

He charmed Angel fans everywhere as the good vamp’s bumbling right-hand man, Wesley — but did you know that Alexis Denisof is actually married to his former Buffy co-star Alyson Hannigan (Willow) in real life? He’s even guest-starred on several episodes of Alyson’s current show, How I Met Your Mother, playing persistent news anchor Sandy Rivers.

Alexis and Alyson married in October 2003, and their daughter Satyana Marie Denisof was born in March 2009. Plus, they have another on the way! On December 16, the couple announced they are pregnant with their second child.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Then and Now



Yes, we know that Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) technically only appeared on a few episodes of Angel. But considering that there would be no Angel without it’s beloved predecessor — Buffy herself simply has to make our list. After the end of her iconic series, SMG mainly stuck to movies for a while (The Grudge and Scooby Doo, in particular, spring to mind). Currently, she stars as troubled twin sisters Bridget and Siobhan on The CW’s intrigue-filled drama, Ringer.

Amy Acker, Angels’ Fred Burkle: Then and Now

After her years as math whiz Winifred “Fred” Burkle on Angel, Amy Acker has continued on the path of geek super-stardom with her subsequent roles. She played villian Kelly Peyton during the final season of Alias, and reunited with Angel creator Joss Whedon during his short-lived sci-fi series, Dollhouse.

J. August Richards, Angel’s Charles Gunn: Then and Now

Angel Investigations’ erstwhile Charles Gunn has stuck around in Hollywood over the years. Actor J. August Richards had a main role on the 2008 TNT series, Raising the Bar, and he’s had a number of bit roles over that time, as well. Diehard Grey’s Anatomy fans, in particular, may remember his role as a young Dr. Richard Webber during a Season 6 episode last year.

Following her role as Angel’s gorgeous but cold-hearted maker, Darla, actress Julie Benz is probably best known for her role as Rita on Dexter. And after Rita’s shocking death at the end of Dexter Season 4? Julie went on to become a superhero mom: Starring as super-speedy matriarch Stephanie Powell on ABC’s No Ordinary Family. And she is currently working on CBS’ A Gifted Man, but — just like fellow Angel alum Charisma Carpenter — Julie says she would be more then open to making a guest appearance on Bones!
