Last week’s episode of The Lying Game introduced us to Phoenix’s new “it” couple, Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) and Alec (Adrian Pasdar), but is their romance for real? After all, Charisma admits that Rebecca’s every move is “contrived and deliberate, for sure.” Believe it or not, it sounds like their relationship is legit! “It’s get hot, hot, hot!” Charisma tells HollywoodLife.com. “It gets so hot — like, sizzle hot.”

And Charisma is loving every minute of her screen time with Adrian.

“He’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a set,” she says. “He’s so unpredictable. I never know what he’s going to say, and he’s whip smart. I remember doing a scene with Keri Russell years ago and thinking, ‘Oh my God, she’s so good.’ It was so believable, so real, so vibrant, so passionate. And then I’m on this set with Adrian 20 years later, and he has that same quality. He’s so invested and present in what he’s doing.”

But don’t for a second think that Rebecca is going soft just because she’s in love.

“Every character has a string attached to Rebecca,” Charisma reminds us. “Whatever their secret or lie is, it seems like Rebecca is tied into it — with Ted, with Alec, and even with the girls. I don’t know what her motivation is with Laurel or Mads, but I suspect it has to do with manipulating them to get in good with the family. It’s all about some greater agenda.”

Charisma promises that viewers will get the answers they’ve been waiting for — but they’ll have to wait a little while longer. She says the season finale “will tie up a lot of loose ends.”

Last week’s ending was really intense for Rebecca. Would you consider that a turning point for her?
“It’s a turning point for the audience, but not in terms of the appearances Rebecca will be keeping.”

Before you even joined the show, people drew comparisons between you and Alexandra Chando. Do you see it?
“Absolutely! I was in the wardrobe trailer where they have little cut-out pictures of what each character is wearing in each scene, and I had to do a double-take because I didn’t know if it was me or if it was her. It was obviously a younger, better version of me. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I look so… oh wait. That’s Alexandra.’ She’s a lovely girl and I think the world of her. She has such a huge career ahead of her and I’m so proud to be working with her. She’s beautiful.”

The Lying Game can get kind of confusing. Do you come up with your own theories about what’s next?
“Definitely! I’m fascinated with the show. Even if, for whatever random reason, I stopped being a part of the show, I would still watch. I’d still want to know what the heck is going on. I really am looking forward to Rebecca being [to The Lying Game what] Amanda was to Melrose Place. I want to find out that she’s just no good. I love to be bad.”

You’ve been a part of so many great shows over the years. Any current favorites you’d love to join?
“You know who I’m really jealous of? Judy Greer. She’s in everything that’s good. She was amazing on Californication, and that show has long been one of my favorite shows. I’d also love to be on Shameless for a minute. Anything! I just want to be a part of it. Also, Modern Family! I had auditioned for Julie Bowen‘s character, but one of the things the casting director said was that he just didn’t believe I’d have kids. I have every right to begrudge Julie, but I love her so much. She’s so amazing. I want to be around those people. Like, I’d be an extra. Can I just hang out with them?”

What about Bones? I think we’d all like to see you reunite with David Boreanaz.
“I would, totally! Any chance to work with my buddy would be amazing. I think it’s been brought up to the producers, but I don’t know how I would fit in. I think we need to push them on that.”
