BUFFY-Stunt Coordinator Jeff Pruitt's home movies-ANNE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKp9ozNQ5p8

Citation :
Raw video from the personal home movies of BUFFY STUNT COORDINATOR JEFF PRUITT-- From episodes: Anne/Dead Man's Party/Faith Hope & Trick/Beauty and the Beasts/Band Candy.

For the hell fight in "Anne" I had already hit Sophia multiple times with a truck and we had to switch to nights so she was pretty tired before we even started.

I was asked NOT to choreograph anything in advance until after a meeting that due to conflicting schedules never happened. On the day of filming main unit was shooting an acting scene next to the fight set and we had to tip-toe and whisper as I choreographed the fight to be ready when the crew finished the other scene. My only instruction was to somehow put the "Hunga Munga" sickle weapon into the scene for a cool posing shot to be used in the credits for the new season.

In order to get the scene done in time I had to ask Sophia Crawford to sprint across the stage and perform a huge master of the fight all in one go. Fortunately I had asked to have a platform built because I knew that I could send the stuntmen flying off in every direction onto pads and not have to worry about matching their body positions. It worked well.

BUFFY-Graduation Day-final fight home video from stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWNe3bwuTbk

Citation :
It was a little frustrating for Sophia Crawford (Buffy) because she felt her leather pants were preventing her from kicking freely. I liked it though.

At one point you'll hear the crew burst out laughing during a take. This is because Sophia (who no one had ever heard raise her voice before) had to yell at a camera operator to get out of the way.

Faith's fight double is Karen Sheperd. Her high fall is performed by Jennifer Badger. Flaming arrows are shot into the stunt guys. Stuntman Zack Hudson is getting jerked around on a wire at the end to simulate being in the mouth of the monster.

BUFFY FRESHMAN BEER BAD WILD AT HEART home video from stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R41rA0dnO1s

Citation :
More behind-the-scenes home movies. Remember that most of the time no one operates the camera, it just sat on a tripod, so we move in and out of frame sometimes.

While shooting the graveyard fight in BEER BAD we thought since it was a dream sequence we would have Sophia step out of BUFFY-mode for just a split second and do her old PINK RANGER pose from POWER RANGERS. You'll see her doing that in this raw video but they decided to take it out for the edited version on the show. They didn't think anyone would get it. (Sophia the Pink Ranger was sort of an inside joke, I guess;)

BUFFY-HUSH-DOOMED-home movies from Buffy Stunt Coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QaT0EwQnqs

Citation :
For HUSH I built a travel rig in my garage (for flying the characters) to save money using whatever parts I had laying around. I had previously used the existing buildings at Universal Studios to rig from but producers wanted a longer floating glide for the characters. This meant a huge expense of big cranes sitting parked on the lot while we shot other things. Nothing we could do about that. But in the end it was worth it. It was a cool shot.

In DOOMED we used the fall with Sophia, but I don't think we used much of the blue screen shot. Someone kept telling her to raise her head which brought her face into the camera. We thought they would put Sarah's face digitally onto hers (similar to when Madonna's face was put on Sophia's for the DIE ANOTHER DAY music vid). Turns out they simply forgot that she was SUPPOSED to hide her face. It was due to mental exhaustion I think, Eh, it happens. We still got what we needed to make the show a good one.

BUFFY WHO ARE YOU SUPERSTAR fight scene home movies from stunt coordinator JEFF PRUITT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNcdnTB-DRo

Citation :
I like the fight in the church in WHO ARE YOU? for its' rough quality. SUPERSTAR was more comic. Seth Green's stunt double LEE WHITAKER stepped in to play the heroic Jonathan-as-a-fighter. Poor ZACK HUDSON was in the demon suit with the long arm extensions. He can hardly breathe or lift his arms - but he keeps on screaming and coming at SOPHIA CRAWFORD and LEE. To the stunt guys this was hilarious. Always funny to watch your buddy struggle through;)

Some LIVING CONDITIONS bits.

Spike gets Hong Kong veteran Steve Tartalia to be his regular stunt double from HARSH LIGHT OF DAY on (after the other guys and even myself had been doubling Spike). Joss liked the look of his square jaw as it matched James better than the rest of us.

Plus, a little playful action between Buffy and Riley at the gym.

BUFFY-WHATS MY LINE-BECOMING-fight scene home movies from stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpb4Waro7HQ

Citation :
From DARK AGES / WHAT'S MY LINE / BECOMING / PHASES:

The characters all evolved in season 2. When I did my first fight with Angel he had to be saved by Buffy. I was told he needed her protection as he wasn't as tough or skilled. Since Buffy and Angel were going to be fighting side by side I asked if I could make them equals.

In DARK AGES I planned a more elaborate kicking and punching combo for Angel, but I was told to only do one kick and one punch and we would see how it goes. So here we see Angel do his very first fancy kick to the head (stuntman Clay Barber in a wig.)

Francine Morris steps in as Kendra for the first Slayer vs Slayer confrontation.

Since the set was still being built for the very first Buffy vs Angel fight, I took Sophia outside to teach her the fight.

The original concept for the sword fight was for Buffy to be completely inept with a sword and spend the fight running from Angel. Once again I wanted to make them a little more equal and Joss agreed. Only he stipulated that he didn't want it to look like fencing or typical dance-like stage combat. No Zorro stuff here. He wanted the characters to behave as if they were desperately trying to hack each other up. And he wanted Buffy to perform a "Samurai Sword Catch" near the end.

Since we were shooting at Universal Studios that week I brought Sophia to Angel's mansion on a Sunday to teach her the fight. Sundays were great for me to sit on a set and make up the action as it was quiet there were no interruptions or frantic activity then.

The rumor that Sophia Crawford broke her index finger in the scene prior to this one is true. But since it was the last fight of the season she elected to tape it up with flesh-colored tape and hold the sword with three fingers and her thumb. Brad Martin stepped in at the last moment to double Angel. I wanted to use the Angel wig on him, but was overruled. Later on we wished we had wigged him. He did a great job though and it turned out to be a fan favorite.

And a little bit from PHASES as Seth explains how he became a werewolf and Sophia steps onto a SFX device and goes for a ride.

BUFFY-THE WISH-fight scene home movies of Buffy Stunt Coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3F-23zmIyzU

Citation :
In THE WISH the first vamp up is me. I just felt like kicking so I put myself into the show. I'm rehearsing first in a brown suit, but they changed it to a brighter color when we were ready to film.

Since producer/director David Greenwalt wanted to shoot in ultra slo-mo for the finale' I decided to experiment with a shot. I had Sophia Crawford kick stuntman Dennis Keefer in the head (just a push) and as Sophia spun out of frame I had Sarah stand up into the shot. It was to give the impression that Sarah was landing the kick herself. Seemed to have worked pretty well in the moment. Here you'll see us working out the shot using Sarah's lighting stand-in Lisa Ray.

But the most important part of the THE WISH is when Seth Green's stunt double, Lee Whitaker, taught me his happy dance. I'm still trying to get the hang of it though.

There's a couple of stunt bits from CONSEQUENCES.

And in a bit from DOPPLEGANGLAND Sophia has the easiest fight she's ever had. The script called for some vamps to crash into frame and then Buffy enters. We only hear sound and we don't see what she does. So I had all the stunt guys run in and out of frame flinging themselves any way they could around Giles' stunt double Eddie Conna. This is the only Buffy fight scene in which Sophia didn't have to throw a single punch.LOL

EARSHOT was a favorite of mine, not because of any stunts we did on it, but because our brilliant editor Regis Kimble got to step out from the edit bay long enough to direct this one.

BUFFY-CHOICES-fight scene home movies of Buffy stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Fisbo34gSEo

Citation :
Sophia Crawford and Mike Massa exchange vampires in a little opening graveyard fight.

Next, they play keep-away with some vamps as they steal the Mayor's box.

This was one of those days in which after shooting all we could with the stunt doubles and David we were still waiting for our leading lady to arrive. So I made a fort from the tables and chairs so the stuntmen could sleep without being stepped on by the crew. Some days you work frantically to get something done and then suddenly all activity stops. You can either rest or prep for the next show at these times. This time we took the opportunity to rest Wink

BUFFY BAD GIRLS THE PROM HELPLESS action scene home movies of stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/embed/q2TqcIrdlyM

Citation :
In BAD GIRLS Sophia Crawford takes out some vamps and electrocutes the villain the crew called "Jabba".

Demon Dogs show up in THE PROM and I bring in veteran stuntmen John Casino and George Fisher to set up a burn in a wedding dress. I promised the producers that I would only burn Sophia for a few seconds to get a shot of Buffy and Angel together as we knew we were going to composite flames as well. They were always concerned whenever I had Sophia in a car or doing something like that as they needed her to be fighting Buffy. When it was over she is heard asking me, "Is that it?"

HELPLESS wasn't a fight-oriented show, but it was an excellent script by David Fury. He asked us to have Buffy and Angel playfully spar around with Buffy grabbing a loaf of bread to use as a stake. There is a blooper when a table doesn't break, And I play a joke on the camera operator by flinging my body off of Giles' moving car and stopping my roll inches in front of his lens. He didn't even flinch.

BUFFY- Angel vs Riley fight scene home movies of stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/embed/T8hnGUBVynA

Citation :
This is from THE YOKO FACTOR. I'm whining at the start of the tape because I had to come in alone and rig on a Sunday. I was just too busy the rest of the week. But honestly, I like going in when it's quiet and not crowded. You can get a lot done that way.

I had done a back 3/4 dive groin-first into a post for a movie, so I challenged Angel double Mike Massa to do one to a pipe I set up. It got trimmed in editing but you can see him do the stunt clearly here. Riley's stunt double is the excellent stuntman Kevin Foster.

I also included a little of actors David Boreanaz and Marc Blucas walking through their bits of the action. They had a great time playing those characters and I don't think they would mind at all. You can see how things are put together from this one.

BUFFY- ZEPPO home movies and that time we stole Joyce's car - from stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ScpGO5lsZE0

Citation :
First up is the stunt seen during the opening credits. Since our ceiling wouldn't allow us to ratchet Sophia Crawford to the floor at the distance I wanted I asked to do this stunt in two sections. It was a wild little ride for her Wink

Next, Nick shows us how to stop a zombie using common items like your car and a mailbox. (*Yep. I added some actors to this one...)

Eliza jumps into the back of a vehicle and Sarah slams a demon to the wall while Eliza stabs it.

Lastly (though this isn't in any episode) since Sophia comes from a strange land where all vehicles have the steering wheel on the passenger side I thought she should practice driving through Sunnydale like a regular American girl. This is what happens when you leave the keys in a vehicle and the backlot is empty for the weekend. Monday morning Buffy's Mom wondered why her tires were so bald.

Not a lot of fighting for us in this one but I loved the script about the adventures of Xander happening during some other storyline the others are involved in. And director Jim Whitmore was one of our favorites as he was really part stuntman at heart.

lol!

BUFFY s2 cast and crew home video from stunt coordinator JEFF PRUITT
https://youtu.be/BLKDsmJjFq0

Citation :
Instead of my usual stunt fighting videos I thought I'd upload something strictly for die hard fans of the series. A 31 minute video featuring the cast and crew of season 2.

During season 2 we were trying to promote the show so I had various crew and cast members talk to the camera directly to the fans. This was a time before anyone was a star and nobody was the god of his own universe yet. There was no infighting or jealousy among crew members. Everybody supported each other's work. The thing that strikes me most looking back at this (aside from how young we all are) is how innocent it was then; a much different atmosphere than in later high pressure years of the show.

ON THIS TAPE: Sophia Crawford and I participate in some PR. Sarah tries to teach me how to do the funky chicken on ice and producer David Solomon nearly wipes out. James gets a haircut. Various crew members show what they do and Seth Green attempts to open a hair salon. David jams his thumb running into me. Aly is fascinated by a werewolf suit. Nick and Charisma do a scene and Juliet Landau gets to fling Angel into a tree. And we see Joss happily directing David in the sword fight. Plus, a few stunts here and there.

The sound was damaged during the latter portion of the sword fight scene so I laid some music over it.
